Creating communities of disciples, leaders, and missionaries for today and tomorrow.
On October 12 2024, the Saint James Parish and Saint Katharine Drexel Parish Pastoral Plan launched. The plan includes the Purpose, the Values, and three Parish Priorities: Forming Intentional Disciples, Leadership, and Youth and Family Outreach.
The councils and staff then began the work of identifying goals for the next five years based upon the three Parish Priorities.
An Implementation Team, made up of a diverse group of parishioners, developed action items for each goal with the desire to bring the Parish Vision to life–The Next Generation Parish.
We are enthusiastic to share our Implementation Timeline and action items with the partner parishes.
Our Three key Priorities that will drive The Next Generation Parish:
Discipleship,
Leadership and
Youth and Family Outreach.
As stated by Pope Francis, The Joy of the Gospel, #28:
“The parish is not an outdated institution; precisely because it possesses great flexibility, it can assume quite different contours depending on the openness and missionary creativity of the pastor and the community.”
The Next Generation Parish experience will provide the pastor and his community with the opportunity to assess it's greatest opportunities and strengths, develop a plan to move into the future, and most importantly cultivate a deeper missionary spirit throughout the community.
